About you

Your care,
your journey

What happens when you contact us, what a first appointment involves, and what to do if the thought of the dentist makes you uneasy.

New patients

You are very welcome here

Whether you attend regularly or have not seen a dentist in years.

A great many people come to us after a long gap, often feeling apprehensive about what they will be told. It is more common than you might think, and it is never met with judgement. The examination is simply a starting point — an honest picture of where things stand, and a conversation about what, if anything, you would like to do about it.

Step by step

  4. A written plan

Treatment and costs set out in writing for you to consider.

  5. Treatment & review

Carried out at your pace, with aftercare and a review.

Your first visit

What actually happens

Your first appointment is mostly listening and looking. We ask what has brought you in, what you have noticed, and whether anything is uncomfortable. We take a full medical history, because general health and dental health are connected.

Then we examine your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth. X-rays are taken where they are clinically justified — not routinely.

Afterwards we sit and go through what we found. If treatment is needed you will get a written plan with costs. If nothing is needed, we will say so.

To bring with you: a list of any medicines you take, and details of your previous dentist if you have them.

Nervous patients

If you are anxious about the dentist

Dental anxiety is common and nothing to apologise for. Tell us when you book, and again when you arrive — it genuinely changes how we approach the appointment.

We will explain what we are doing before we do it, agree a signal for you to stop at any point, and go at whatever pace you need. Sometimes a first appointment is nothing more than a conversation and a look, with no treatment at all.

PLACEHOLDER — if the practice offers specific anxiety support such as sedation or longer appointments, please confirm. Nothing has been claimed here that we could not verify.

Tell us in advance

Mention it when booking so we can plan the appointment properly.

Stop whenever

We agree a signal before we start, and we honour it.

No surprises

We explain each step before it happens.

No rush

Going slowly is entirely acceptable here.

Patient questions

Are you taking on new patients?

Please call the practice on 01428 723096 and our team will confirm current availability.

What does a first appointment cost?

A new patient examination is £82.00. X-rays, if clinically needed, are charged separately. The full price list is published on this website.

How do I prepare?

Bring a list of any medicines you take and, if you have them, details of your previous dentist. Otherwise, just come as you are.

Will I be told off for not attending?

No. We are interested in where things are now and what you would like to do next, not in what happened before.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. Many people find it easier with someone they trust in the room, and that is completely fine.

What if I need treatment I cannot afford right now?

Tell us. Treatment can often be prioritised and staged, dealing with what is urgent first. We would rather plan around your circumstances than have you avoid coming.

Book an Appointment

Tell us a little about what you need and we will call you back to arrange a time.

We will confirm the exact time by phone.

Please do not include detailed medical information in this form.
